Carpet Beetle

These tiny pests, measuring 2–4 mm, sport a fashionable mix of black, brown, yellow, and white. They’re not just home invaders; they’re also museum menaces!
After emerging, these beetles waste no time in finding a mate. The ladies then lay up to 100 eggs over a fortnight. Their larvae, affectionately known as “Woolly Bears”, grow to 4–5 mm and have a particular fondness for wool, fur, and even your breakfast cereal!
To tackle these pesky intruders, first locate their hideouts. Then, treat old nests, carpet undersides, and other sneaky spots with insecticide. Remember, these beetles love pollen too, so they might be enjoying your garden before sneaking indoors for a carpet snack!

German Cockroach

These light brown pests, about 17mm long, sport two dark stripes behind their heads. Females are quite the overachievers, producing up to six egg cases in their 200-day lifespan. Each case contains a whopping 30-40 eggs!
.These little buggers grow up fast, with nymphs developing in just 40-125 days. They’re so prolific that they can quickly turn into a full-blown infestation.
To tackle these unwelcome guests, we recommend a multi-pronged approach. This includes using traps, insecticidal gels, and targeted residual insecticides. For stubborn cases, you might need to channel your inner spy and conduct some nighttime reconnaissance!

Garden Ant

Meet the garden ant: a tiny brown/black insect with elbowed antennae and a bite. Workers are 3-4mm long, while the queen’s a whopping 10mm!
These little chaps love to nest outdoors, but they’re not above popping in for a cuppa and a biscuit. In summer, winged ants have a brief, romantic flight before the females dig in for winter.

Dealing with an ant invasion? Follow their trail and give them a good dusting (with insect powder, of course). If you can’t find the nest, create a barrier with spray. For a long-term solution, try gels and baits.
Oh, and we’re not just garden ant experts. We also tackle those sneaky Ghost and Pharaoh’s Ants. Quite the pest-busting repertoire, eh?

Common House Fly

Adults measure about 6 mm in length, boasting a wingspan that ranges from 13 to 15 mm. A notable feature is the 4th vein on their wings, which bends sharply forward, giving them a distinctive appearance. The thorax is adorned with four clear stripes, making them easily identifiable.
These pesky insects lay their eggs in decaying organic matter, with a particular fondness for rubbish dumps and manure heaps. Under optimal conditions, the entire life cycle of a house fly can be completed in as little as two weeks, which is quite astonishing when you think about it!
To effectively manage their population, it is crucial to remove and exclude potential breeding sites, such as refuse areas. Space sprays that have a knockdown action are an effective method of control. Additionally, ensuring that doors and windows are properly proofed can help keep these unwelcome guests at bay. Unlike the Lesser House Fly, electric fly killers can be quite effective in eliminating house flies once they venture indoors. So, while they may be small, their impact can be significant, and a little prevention goes a long way!
